When norm dudes check me out I always wanna be like “hello yes I am the forbidden fruit.”
Soooo I just got turned down for MassHealth, the only care I’m qualified for from the state is emergency service like E.R. visits and ambulatory care and I’m really fucking livid. I am barely, over the federal poverty line for a single income household. How are you going to make it illegal to be insured and then turn down someone who isn’t offered insurance from their job and can’t afford insurance on their own? After struggling with the DTA for the past two months over my food stamps I just do not have the stomach to deal with this bullshit. I have $20 in my bank account, thousands of dollars in hospital bills, and tens of thousands of dollars in student loans and I don’t have it bad enough to get basic medical attention or fucking FOOD for god’s sake?
You shouldn’t even need to be poorly off to get medical attention (or food). I know that I am privileged. I am white, I am employed, I am employable, I am college educated and I come from a middle-class family. I’m not visibly disabled, or debilitatingly disabled, and I don’t have children. But when you are told that because you are not a full-time, high-paid worker that you don’t deserve to have access to healthcare and therefore access to a healthy life, it is literally saying that because you are not “useful” to capitalism that you don’t deserve to be healthy or even alive. And that is so fucked.
Who even came up with this system? I’m talking, even if you look at it from the perspective of the wealthy, the perspective of the powerful, ruling class, WHO wants to live in a world where their basic needs are only deemed important enough to be met if they have money?
And then people wanna talk bullshit at me about welfare queens and its just like FUCK you this shit is not easy or fun and I definitely am not living it up. It’s a CONSTANT struggle that only rarely pays off.
